ETA Professional Development Grant

ETA Professional Development Grant

The Evansville Teachers Association recognizes the importance of professional development and supports our members' efforts to improve their practice.  The ETA PD Grant Program was created to provide financial assistance to Association members pursuing professional development opportunities.

GUIDELINES
1.  Must be an ETA member for a minimum of one full year prior to application.  New teachers are excluded from this requirement.

2.  Starting with 2019-20, an ETA member is eligible for one PD Grant of up to $500 every other Association year (Association year defined as September 1 - August 31).  Tuition for college credit courses is ineligible.
3.  PD Grant monies paid as reimbursement for:
   A. Conference  registration expenses (maximum of $200); and
   B. Travel expenses (maximum of $300) - Eligible travel expenses include:
  • Hotel - double occupancy hotel accommodations (ETA will reimburse up to half of the cost of the room for each ETA member staying in the room)
  • Mileage - round-trip automobile mileage from the member's home to the conference location at the IRS standard mileage rate for charitable organizations, (currently $.14 per mile), for member driving his/her personal vehicle.
  • Other mode of travel (e.g. bus, airplane, train, etc.)
4.  Application must be submitted to ETA office 30 calendar days PRIOR to workshop or conference.
5.  It is the member’s responsibility to secure a substitute teacher and paid leave.
6. The annual PD Grant budget is determined by line item 6655 in the ETA budget.
NOTE: 2022-23 ETA Teacher PD Grant budget is $10,000. 

REIMBURSEMENT
  • proof of registration expense (detailed receipt)
  • proof of hotel expense (detailed receipt)
  • proof of attendance (e.g. copy of name badge, workshop program booklet, attendance certificate, etc.)
  • proof of number of miles driven with personal vehicle (round-trip from member’s home to conference location) (Google Maps/MapQuest printout)
  • proof of other form of travel expense (e.g. detailed receipt for bus fare, airfare, etc.)
  • Reflective Piece - Please state how information learned at workshop/conference will be used to help improve instructional effectiveness in the classroom.  If non-classroom teacher, how will the PD be used to improve your effectiveness in your current position?

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Request for reimbursement MUST be submitted to ETA office no later than 30 calendar days following workshop/conference.
