ETA Professional Development Grant (Updated 10/25/2024)
OVERVIEW. The Evansville Teachers Association (ETA) values professional development and supports members in enhancing their practice. The ETA PD Grant Program offers financial assistance to members pursuing professional development opportunities.
APPLICATION DEADLINE. Submit PD Grant applications at least 30 days before the professional development conference. Grants are available to ETA members who have been members for at least one full year before the application date, though first-year teachers are exempt from this requirement.
GUIDELINES. 1. Application must be submitted to ETA office at least 30 calendar days PRIOR to workshop or conference.
2. Must be an ETA member in good standing for a minimum of one full year prior to application. New teachers are excluded from this requirement.
3. An ETA member is eligible for one Professional Development (PD) Grant of up to $500 every other Association year (defined as September 1 - August 31). Please note that tuition for college credit courses is not eligible for reimbursement.
4. PD Grant monies paid as reimbursement for: A. Conference registration expenses (maximum of $200); and B. Travel expenses (maximum of $300) - Eligible travel expenses include:
Hotel - double occupancy hotel accommodations. ETA will reimburse up to half of the cost of the room for each ETA member staying in the room.
Mileage - round-trip automobile mileage from the member's home to the conference location at the IRS standard mileage rate for charitable organizations, (currently $.14 per mile), for member driving their vehicle.
Other mode of travel (e.g. bus, airplane, train, etc.)
5. It is the member’s responsibility to secure a substitute teacher and paid leave.
6. The annual Professional Development (PD) Grant budget, determined by line item 6655 in the ETA budget, is $5,000 for the 2024-25 academic year. REIMBURSEMENT PROCEDURE. Requests for reimbursement must be submitted to the ETA office within 30 calendar days after the workshop or conference and must include the following items:
Proof of Registration Expense (detailed receipt)
Proof of Hotel Expense (detailed receipt)
Proof of Attendance (copy of name badge, workshop program booklet, attendance certificate, etc.)
Proof of Mileage. Include the total number of miles driven (round-trip from your home to the conference location) using a Google Maps printout as verification.
Proof of other form of travel expense (e.g. detailed receipt for bus fare, airfare, etc.)
Reflective Piece. Please describe how the information you learned at the workshop or conference will be used to enhance your instructional effectiveness in the classroom. If you are not a classroom teacher, explain how the professional development will improve your effectiveness in your current role.
New Requirement: Conference Photos. Please email three photos of yourself attending the conference to [email protected]. If your conference is virtual, you do not need to submit a picture.
